2011 I 21 The “Monasticism” exhibition in Tomaszow Lubelski, Poland.
Epiphany, celebrated in Poland on the 19th of January, is one of the most important feasts in the liturgical calendar. It is especially celebrated in Tomaszow Lubelski, Lubelsko-Chelmska Diocese. This year, the celebrations in St. Nicholas’s church were led by Archbishop Abel, the head of the Lubelsko-Chelmska Diocese and several priests from the area.
Although the parish in Tomaszow Lubelski is ratler small, during the service St. Nicholas’ church was full of people: the parishioners, believers from other orthodox parishes as well as Roman Catholics from the local area, who deem it an honour to participate in the celebrations.
In addition, the festive celebrations coincided with the week of prayers for the unity of christians. Therefore, the service was attended by many people connected with ecumenical dialogue.
After the liturgy, there was a vernisage of the “Monasticism” photo exhibition. The event took place in the Cultural Center in Tomaszow Lubelski. The exhibition consists of 200 images which present orthodox monasticism in 25 countries. It is the 2nd exhibition prepared by OrthPhoto.net and the 1st thematic exhibition.
